What is Women's Health Physiotherapy?

Women’s Health Physiotherapy is a specialised area of care that supports you through physical changes — and the physical and emotional challenges they can bring — at every life stage, from pregnancy and postnatal recovery to menopause and beyond. Whether you're dealing with pelvic pain, incontinence, joint issues, hormone-related conditions like endometriosis or menopause, or recovery from surgery, I create a personalised plan that supports your body and wellbeing as a whole.

What Makes My Approach Different?

Not just pelvic floor exercises.

Most of the time, pelvic floor exercises alone aren’t enough — it usually takes a more holistic approach to see real, lasting improvement.

Too often, women are given a sheet of exercises and sent on their way.

My care goes further. I combine hands-on therapy, exercise rehab, nervous system support, and mindset tools to get better, longer-lasting results.

This means addressing the root cause — not just the symptoms — with a plan that fits your lifestyle and goals.

My approach is grounded in the SENSSE® Method — a holistic framework that supports the Subconscious, Empowerment, Nutrition, Stress, Sleep and Exercise — adapted to meet your specific needs.

Testimonial

Women's health issues are not always easy to discuss but Bobby made me feel very comfortable and at ease. She was incredibly professional and knowledgable and both the work we did during the appointment and advice for home practice have been enormously helpful. Thank you Bobby - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you!

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in a Women's Health Physiotherapy appointment?

You’ll be asked detailed questions about your symptoms and medical history. A physical assessment may follow, including posture, abdominal, hip, and pelvic checks. If appropriate, and with your consent, an internal vaginal or rectal exam may be offered. We’ll discuss your goals and what kind of support you’re looking for — whether that’s a one-off session or ongoing care. Based on this, we’ll build a plan that may include hands-on treatment, a home exercise programme, and personalised advice.

How often will I need to come?

That depends on your symptoms, goals, and how things progress. Some women find one or two sessions helpful, but longer-term issues usually need more support. We’ll talk through your goals in the first session and create a realistic plan — one that works for your lifestyle and gives you the best chance of long-lasting improvement.

Do I have to have an internal examination?

If you're attending for a pelvic floor issue, post-operative recovery, or postnatal care, an internal vaginal examination is often recommended. It allows for a more complete assessment of pelvic floor function, including technique, strength, endurance, overactivity, and any scar tissue. If you prefer not to have one, your comfort is always respected — and we can still make meaningful progress with external assessment and tailored advice.

How do I book an appointment and how long does it last?

You can book an appointment online, or if you’d like to discuss whether physiotherapy is appropriate for your situation, feel free to email me or use the contact form below. Initial appointments last up to 1 hour and follow-ups are up to 30 minutes. Please don’t arrive more than 10 minutes before your appointment.
